The Midwives Alliance of North America and the California Association of Midwives present Midwives Alliance 2009 at the fabulous Asilomar State Beach & Conference Grounds near Monterey, California, October 22-25, 2009 (pre-conference sessions on October 22).
The tide has been rising this year as health care changes are on the horizon. The future of Maternal/Child Health Care is on a cusp of change, and midwives are proving to be leaders in this movement by caring for women and their families, speaking out for evidence based maternity care, and creating alliances to influence health care reform. The Midwives Alliance conference is an annual meeting that brings together many of the most forward thinking movers and shakers in the movement and is the perfect place to find stimulating conversation amidst a feeling of homecoming.
The rising tide brings many waves, each with a unique story. The California Association of Midwives and the Midwives Alliance heartily invite you to join us this year in a redwood grove, nestled by the ocean, as we tell our stories, remember our past, share our deep knowledge and wisdom about birth, learn from each other, and plan which wave to ride into a future that celebrates and honors women and birth.
Just four of the many excellent speakers you will hear—
- Ina May Gaskin
- Eugene DeClerq
- Yeshi Neumann
- and Sobonfu Some, author, teacher, and leading voice in ritual and African spirituality
Just three of the many sessions you can attend—
- Stillbirth at Home
- Dealing with Difficult Family Members
- Research Year in Review
Make plans to join us at the ocean! Be a part of the rising tide of natural birth and midwifery activism. The California midwives have planned a rejuvenating and inspiring weekend at Asilomar Conference Grounds known as "Monterey's Refuge by the Sea."
This is your chance to get CEUs, connect with kindred spirits, revitalize, energize, and, most likely, catch a glimpse of a sea otter or two.
